The Magic of Las Vegas…

Published by liantx at 9:52 pm under Travel Edit This

The New York, New York Las vegas holds a bit of magic for me. I have now been twice and very soon about to go a third time, I couldn’t be more excited. The first thing you notice as you walk through the airport is the slot machines just about everywhere, the lights and sounds had me amazed.  I went with my best friend the very first time and we really did have a good time, even though we had pretty much spent most of our money saving up for the trip than having spending money for the trip, but we managed.

We stayed at the Riviera which to me looked like something resembling Picadilly circus, all the mirrors and neon lights, it was fantastic. The rooms were very comfortable and I had to say I loved the bathroom the most. I played at the casino downstairs about an hour after we had gotten to the hotel, and after all that my parents had told me and Tabitha about what to do and not to do in Las Vegas I had found myself a little disapointed. The slot machines are now on a voucher system, meaning you can insert your money; (i.e bills) into the machine, but if you win anything, no more cha-ching sounds Cry but instead a voucher prints out that you either take to a “Voucher ATM” or to the cashier.  My budget was $100 to loose, and if I had won anything half of the winnings would set aside amd the other i’d add to my spendings, sad to say THAT never happened hehe. After approximately losing about $40 me and Tabitha decided to walk about the strip, we found a McDonald’s across the street from our hotel which turned out to be our saving grace, since we had little money with us we can now eat cheaply. And by the way, even McDonald’s gets in on all the vegas glory with having a lit up sign, it was fabulous even for McDonald’s!

We did find a coin-operated casino across the street called “Slots-r-Fun”, next to Circus Circus, this was my favorite spot of the trip, this was one the few places when you could put in nickels, dimes or quarters and get exactly that out! I actually played a nickel slot and won some high amount but played it down till finally I decided to cash out, and got $15  in nickels, I collected my nickels in one of the cups nearby and decided it was time to go back to the room. I guarded my $15 in nickels with my life and practically going to snarl at anyone who tried to take them. Back in the room I counted the nickesl to verify that I indeed had $15, and sure enough I did, dirty fingers and all. Slots-r-Fun also had a really good hot dog special, 1/2 pound foot longs for .99!  It was like the 2nd or 3rd day when we walked like 2 miles or longer and by the time I got back to the hotel room I couldn’t move, I sent Tabitha with $10 and said go get us some hotdogs and keep the rest, lol so we feasted that night!

The overall trip was good, I went with the intention I was going to win money and lost some instead, after that we just enjoyed sightseeing the strip. Deffinitely worth buying a 24hr bus pass for $5 also, it got us up and down the strip alot easier than walking. I will post another blog about my next vegas trip, and hopefully share some info on my impending thrird trip. Please stay tuned.
